SEMINAR 2
Fundamental Skills of Occlusal Evaluation & Treatment Planning.
Masticatory System Biomechanics therapies are often clouded in confusion and controversy. The lack of considering all Masticatory System factors contributing to biomechanical force levels, and lack of effective means of evaluating these factors are major contributors to this controversy. It is for these reasons that the Integrated Classification System (ICS) and the Diagnosis And Treatment Assisting (DATA) Appliance have been developed.
The ICS is unique in that it is the only classification system that considers the biomechanical elements of TM-Joint Orthopedic Stability, the Functional Occlusion, and Parafunctional Activity. Only after all three elements are determined can appropriate restorative and occlusal therapies be determined.
Course II introduces you to the ICS and the DATA Appliance. With a combination of classroom and intensive hands-on training you will learn how to utilize the DATA Appliance to gain information regarding each biomechanical element to guide you in the diagnosis and treatment planning of biomechanical issues.
Each participant will learn:
Rationale for design and utilization of a DATA Appliance
DATA Appliance seating, adjustment, and appointment management
Utilization of a DATA Appliance to assist in the evaluation of Temporomandibular Joint Stability, the Functional Occlusion and Parafunctional Activity
Utilizing the ICS in conjunction with the deprogrammer to choose appropriate occlusal and restorative therapy
Bite registration, verification, and treatment planning with a DATA Appliance
